Ocala Florida weather report July 2017

After a severe drought all winter and spring June was very wet with afternoon thunderstorms most days. That is a good thing it is the beginning of the wet season after all and we need to make up for the lack of rain earlier this year.

I could predict the weather in July by just saying it will be in the low 90’s with a 40% chance of afternoon thunderstorms every day, the humidity will be high and when you wake up in the morning it will be in the high 70’s.

The dry season was the driest in 103 years according to the weather I watch on local TV. I know where I live in SW Ocala we got very little rain all winter and all spring. Just this past week, the first week of June we are beginning to see the afternoon thunderstorms.

June is the beginning of our wet season. It is already humid with temps in the high 80’s and low 90’s with night time temps in the 70’s. It will stay like this until mid October. As I like to say the hot humid summers are a small price to pay for no snow or ice ever.

Ocala Florida Weather May 2017

As always I like to start my weather report by looking back to the previous month and see what actually happened. April was unusually hot and dry. Many if not most days were 5-10 degree above average. We are having serious drought conditions due to almost no rain in the month.

May is the last month of spring here in Ocala. Actually it begins to get hot and humid mid month although this year we are a month ahead of schedule. In May we should gradually go from the low 80’s to about 90 by months end with increasing humidity.

Ocala Florida weather report April 2017

March was an odd month. Early March was cooler than most of February. It has been very dry even drier than normal during our dry season. There is a higher risk than normal of forest fires this spring. Most fires are in rural areas and not near the retirement communities I work in.

April is a fantastic month in Florida. Days are in the low 80’s. It is sunny almost every day and there is no humidity. Nights are cool in the 60’s and great for sleeping with the windows open. Most days I might turn on my AC for a few hours in the afternoon and then turn it off after dark when it cools down.

If April isn’t a great month where you live then email me or use my Ocala Dream Home Finder and I’ll show you what you can buy for a house here in Ocala.

February was much warmer then normal. Many days were close to 80. We didn’t have a decent frost this year where I live in the SW area. March is the beginning of spring here. The grass is getting green and the azaleas are beginning to bloom.

If you are living with snow and ice while I’m growing orchids on my Lanai you should join me living here in Ocala. Hoses are still very reasonable, taxes and living expenses are low and the weather is great.

Ocala weather for January 2017 was crazy warm. Most days were in the high 70’s with several touching 80. That is around 10 degrees above normal. It was also very dry with little rain and no humidity.

February temperatures are usually in the low 70’s. Just after a cold front goes through they can dip as low as the high 50’s for a couple of days. February is the last month of winter here in Ocala. By the last week of the month things begin to start warming up. March is spring here !

Ocala Florida Weather Report January 2017

The weather in Ocala for December was unusually warm. Some days hit the low 80’s and I had to turn my AC on in the afternoon to cool the house down. Most days were in the mid to high 70’s and the low 60’s at night.

January is winter in Ocala although this year is starting off exceptionally war. Winter is all about cold fronts. A front will come in and day time temperatures will drop to the low 60’s or even high 50’s. At night we can get a frost or even a light freeze. We don’t get a freeze very year. Some times we go for years between freezes. Because our temperatures are so mild many if not most homes use a heat pump for heating. A heat pump is a central air conditioner that can heat in the same way it cools. Heat pumps only work in very mild climates like Ocala.

Most days in January are in the 70’s with no humidity and the sun shines most days. The hot humid summers are a small price to pay for winters like we have in Ocala. Email me or use my Ocala Dream Home Finder and I’ll show you what you can get for a home here.

Ocala Florida weather report for December 2016

It’s December 13th today. At 330 this afternoon it is 78 degrees with almost no humidity and the sun is shining. That’s a few degrees above normal. This is what the beginning of winter is like here in Ocala. I was out mowing my lawn this morning.

November was one of the driest Novembers on record according to the weather guy on TV. We got almost no rain at my house in SW Ocala. November is one of our driest months but this one was extra dry.

December is a great month in Ocala. Warm, sunny and dry. If you don’t look forward to the winters the way I do why not move. Email me, call me or use my Ocala Dream Home Finder and I’ll help you move. All I do is help buyers relocate to Ocala. The hot humid summers are a small price to pay for no winters.

Ocala Florida weather report November 2016

October was normal with no surprises. We missed Hurricane Mathew. The weather gradually cooled off from the low 90’s to the mid 80’s. And the humidity went away as the month went on.

November is a great month in Ocala. Temperatures in the high 70’s. Cool nights in the 60’s. Dry sunny days. It hasn’t rained in weeks which is pretty normal.

October is a transition month weather wise here in Ocala. The first half is still hot and humid with temperatures in the high 80’s and even low 90’s. Towards the end of the month the dry air comes back and the temperatures go down into the low 80’s.

Hurricane Mathew is in the Caribbean and heading up the coast. Being in the center of the state the Ocala area will get heavy rain and some wind. I will update this post after Mathew passes.

Hurricane Mathew Update : There was minor damage, downed trees and power outages in the eastern parts of Marion County. Here in the SW area off SR 200 where I live and many of the retirement communities are located we got lite winds and a little rain. Summer thunderstorms are much worse. I had just moved to Ocala in 2004 when 4 hurricanes hit Florida. In the SW area we had a lot of rain and some trees got knocked down. I never even lost my power. Fear of hurricanes was a major reason I personally decided to move to Ocala.
