Ocala Real Estate Market Report for June 2013

June was another great month sales wise. Although down from May still one of the best months in years. Interestingly enough active listing went up a little. I wonder if we will see sellers jump into the market now that sales are improving. Foreclosures were steady from previous months. There were only 37 Short sales. I never do Short sales and that’s the reason. Most never close.

I’ve said this before so I think I’ll say it again. There has been very little new home construction since the crash in 2007. That means no new inventory has hit the market in almost 6 years. We have just been turning over existing sales. That combined with people finally being able to sell their homes in other parts of the country along with baby boomers retiring in greater numbers is setting the Ocala area up for another sellers market. It’s not an IF it’s just a matter of WHEN.
